Note: This tutorial may seem simplistic to some but I’ve been answering these questions for several years and still wince while watching casual PC users take nearly half a minute to find Windows Explorer in the start menu. Some “advanced” users fare little better, so please be patient.
What is Windows Explorer?
Windows Explorer is a file management system for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. The most common uses of Windows Explorer include:
- Copying, moving and deleting files between directories
- Accessing information on USB keys, CD-ROM’s and DVD-ROMs
- Changing file attributes (eg setting files to read-only)
- Performing context-sensitive operations on files (e.g. file compression, opening media files with Windows Media Player)
What is the Difference Between Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer?
Internet Explorer is a web browser and allows users to surf the World Wide Web (or locally-stored web pages). Windows Explorer is a file management system that allows users to “surf” their hard drives, optical media drives and network drives. Screen-shots for each “explorer” application are below -

Windows Explorer = Disk drives and network drives - files

Internet Explorer = Internet and Intranet – web pages
These two applications are totally different

Well, not entirely. It is legitimate to enter a drive path like c:\temp\ in the address bar for Internet Explorer (or a competing web browser like Firefox). Depending on configuration, the browser will either allow the user to browse local drives right in the window or automatically open Windows Explorer for full file management. Similarly, typing a web URL like http://www.blink7.com in the address bar of Windows Explorer will either launch a web browser or open the web page directly in Windows Explorer (depending on which version of windows is running)

After you open the microsoft windows explorer, type in web hosting services. You will find lunarpages to be displayed on the first page. The ipowerweb and hostgator pages are found on the second or third page of the search engine. These companies don’t get paid much for webhosting cheap sites so use design tutorials to make a presentable page. Use an internet phone to get advice on how to design a web page while you work.

I did’t go through this entirely. I am annoyed by windows explorer to extreme. One note: The most common and easiest way to open windows explorer is to press “Wnd+e”. Cheers.
Hi Radek:
Was on the fence about that, because it might not be easy depending on one’s sense of timing. If I press Wnd+e simultaneously I can get into Windows Explorer. However, pressing e even a few milliseconds too late causes it to act as a search on the main start menu, and launch Mozilla Thunderbird (which is listed as “Email”). Still, the key presses are technically faster. Thanks for your response.
